This journal documents my personal trading experience, thoughts, and emotions throughout the day. It includes a full session recording and a short reflection on the setups, decisions, and lessons learned. The goal is consistency, self-awareness, and long-term growth — not perfection.

🎯 Session Summary
Nasdaq-100 opened with a downside gap, drifted lower through early Asia/EU (-1 %), then caught a powerful +1.5 % bid before the U.S. open. A mid-US pull-back was absorbed and the index finished +0.4 % on the day.
-
Trades: Two main scalp attempts on the primary account
-
Early short (carried from yesterday) locked for a modest gain at the open.
-
New short taken late-session—more a FOMO entry than a system setup—remains open, slightly red but controlled.
-
-
Secondary account: one well-timed scalp, partial-locked and closed for a small profit.
Gold found support an hour before the EU open and held a +1.5 % bid all day, despite an ugly Asian drop.
WTI crude stayed heavy: –3.7 % in Asia, partial bounce later, still closed –1 %.
🧠 Reflections & Feelings
-
Good read on the initial downside, but impatience cost a 5× bigger win; I grabbed profits too early.
-
Second entry violated my “no chasing missed moves” rule—classic FOMO.
-
More evidence that swing positioning off higher-time-frame levels matches my lifestyle better than constant scalping.
📊 Market Insight
Instrument | Daily Range | Close | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Nasdaq-100 | –1 % ➜ +1.5 % | +0.4 % | Strong dip-buy support; gap still unfilled. |
Gold (XAUUSD) | –1 % ➜ +1.5 % | +1.5 % | Bid into EU open; watching for follow-through. |
WTI Crude | –3.7 % ➜ +2.7 % | –1 % | Asia washout, but buyers appeared near 61.3. |
VIX | Flat | Slightly ▲ | Holding above recent lows—risk of snap-back. |
Fear & Greed | 66 (Greed) | – | Sentiment stretched; ripe for gap-fill pull-back. |
🏆 Key Wins
-
Booked profit on the overnight short rather than turning a winner into a loser.
-
Secondary-account scalp executed perfectly at the session’s sweet spot.
📌 Closing Stats
Total closed trades | 2 (both winners) |
Open trades | 1 short Nasdaq (small unrealised loss) |
Net realised P/L | Positive, but < target due to early exit |
Max drawdown | Minimal |
💡 Key Lesson
Plan the trade, trust the plan, then let it run.
Exiting early and re-entering late are two sides of the same FOMO coin.
👣 Final Note
Bias for tomorrow: gold strength and a possible Nasdaq pull-back if VIX lifts. I’ll focus on higher-time-frame swing entries around key support / resistance, using alerts instead of watching every tick.
